Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist
Ministers of the Eucharist assist with the distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ under the forms of bread and wine during the Mass. Norms for the   Distribution and Reception of Holy Communion indicate that it is necessary for Eucharistic Ministers to receive spiritual, theological, and practical preparation and that they are to fulfill their role with knowledge and reverence.

Some Eucharistic Ministers take communion to the sick who are in hospitals, in nursing homes, in assisted-living facilities, and those that are homebound.

Eucharistic Ministers to the Sick and Homebound
Those in this ministry visit parishioners in private homes, Hospice facilities, area hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, nursing homes, assisted living, independent living and rehabilitation facilities in Nashville and the surrounding area every day to distribute Communion and minister to the spiritual needs of the sick. These Eucharistic visits also bring the comforts of both prayer and conversation in the loving spirit to those who are suffering and may be struggling to keep hope in their life. Helping to meet the spiritual needs of the sick is a privilege, a gift and a blessing for those who participate in this ministry.

With a fellowship of people working together to make God visible in the world, it enables us to care for others in a straight-from-the-heart approach, while encircling our parish in an eternal shawl of peace, healing and compassions.
